On 31 August, a group of students from the National Human Resources Development Institute (NHI)  of the Republic of Korea visited Moncloa University Hospital for a first-hand view of its management and functioning.

The group, who are concluding their studies at the NHI (the body which trains civil servants and the senior management of various government organisations), found this hospital to be an interesting example for studying Social Economy and Cooperativism in Spain, the core subject of their dissertations.

The Director General of the Espriu Foundation, Carlos Zarco, and the deputy director, José Pérez, welcomed the students to the hospital and explained what co-operative healthcare consists of, how it is regulated, differences from the public and private healthcare system, and the work of the Espriu Foundation and its institutions.

The seven students all remarked on the unique way the hospital functions thanks to the regulatory formula of cooperativism, and its high standards of quality, two characteristics that are very interesting for doctors, hospital management professionals, and public healthcare administrations in other countries.
