During the closing ceremony, the President of CEPES, Juan Antonio Pedreño, called for «a great pact for employment in order to stimulate the reactivation of the economy, taking into consideration the diversity and plurality of all forms of enterprise operating in the marketplace».

Mr Pedreño was accompanied at the close of the assembly by Spain’s Deputy Prime Minister, Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría, the Mayor of Madrid, Ana Botella, and the Luxembourg’s Minister of Employment and Social and Solidarity Economy, Nicolas Schmit.

In her address, Sáez de Santamaría asserted that now is the time for the social economy because “it is synonymous with stability and quality in employment”. The Deputy Prime Minister declared that the social economy “represents a model which gives priority to people”, and represents “a key element in generating employment and social cohesion, and will therefore be a commitment of this Government”.

For her part, the Mayor of Madrid asserted that “the social economy has proved itself one of the engines of the economies of Spain and Madrid”, describing the entities which make up CEPES as “an example in the generation of stable and quality employment, along with social inclusion”.

During the assembly, CEPES raised the need for the social economy to have a presence everywhere that socioeconomic proposals are raised and debated, and wherever agreements are made and general and specific policies decided in the context of employment, social policy, health, education, innovation, internationalisation and any aspect connected with this sector of enterprise.
